AK-48 (Sweet Leaf)

AK-48 Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Sweet Leaf

Grade:  A

Type:   Hybrid Indica dominant.  (The father is Jock Horror, a three-way hybrid that combines genetics from Northern Lights, Skunk, and Haze. Its Ice mother has ancestors of Afghani, Skunk, Northern Lights and Shiva stock.)

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:   Beautiful.  I knew right when I pulled this bud out to photograph it was fire.

Aroma:  A faint clean(lemon?) piney smell

Taste:  This one tasted like outside on a damp spring day, think fresh growth with wet pavement that was just pinesol’d.  Medium expansion.

Buzz Type:  Strong body without couchlock.  This is one of my favorite Indica hybrids to date. It was potent and you are comfortable sitting and relaxing, but cognizant enough to take care of business or have meaningful interaction if needed.  Time flew by.

Buzz Length:  Long. 2.5 – 3 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Absolutly good for leg pain – mine is a combination of muscle cramps/spasms and strong internal bone aches that doctors can’t diagnose.  I did get an appetite about an hour in.

Overall:  This is a bud I will go back for again and again. Perfect summer afternoon chill or go out and hang with friends, very versatile with relaxing overtones.  Many of today’s multi-breed strains seem more like abominations and fail to provide me with a real identity of their own, but the AK-48 takes all its ancenstry in stride and presents itself like an original.

Hindu Kush x Diesel (GreenBellyCo-Op)

Hindu Kush x Diesel Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Green Belly Co-Op

Grade: B+

Type:  Hybrid maybe even a 50/50

Price:  $20/gram

Appearance:  Dense, dry nuggets.

Aroma:  Sour, lemony kush scent.

Taste:  Really tastes like kush, just like the blunt wrapper in Kush Flavor.  Medium expansion.  Sweet after taste that lingers in the mouth.

Buzz Type:  Short and very back and forth, one minute I had energy the next I was tired then energy again.

Buzz Length:  Medium. 1.5 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Not sure how medicinal this is with it being so back and forth as far as body and mental.  I did have a good appetite increase.

Overall:   This is an interesting strain as it is comprised of similar components as the I.N.T. but it had differing effects for all of us.  I recommend trying this in a small sample to see if your body reacts to the kush or diesel more strongly.  I know that I tend to get more out of the indica side of this strain but was witness to the exact opposite effect in others.

Great White (Dr. Reefer)

Written by KindReviews on March 8th, 2010. Posted in B+, Blog, Dr. Reefer, Sativa-Dominant Hybrid

From: Dr. Reefer

Grade:  B+

Type: Hybrid. (commonly White Widow x Skunk #1)  older varieties called ”Peacemaker” and “Shark Shock”.  Better genetics found here.

Price: $20/gram

Appearance:  Pretty leafy, appeared sticky and it was quite sticky inside.

Aroma:  Nice citrus/sweet burst of scent, very aromatic.

Taste:  Never got a great feeling for the taste even with a couple different reviews, but I did notice a bit of a “bite” to it on the tongue.  One you say, “I know that taste” but you never end up knowing exactly.

Buzz Type:  Nice body, plus total Space Cadet – with some mild to heavy paranoia involved.

Buzz Length:  Long. 2+ hours

Pain Management:  (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Yes.  This was excellent for me, neck and back pain were instantly forgotten and it stayed that way for a long while.  One could easily get through a tough bout of pain and then drift off to sleep.

Overall:  This strain is one I will definitely go back for.  I really enjoyed the good expansion, the body aspect and the huge head high.  If I didn’t find the mid to strong paranoia each time I would like it even more.  Some folks really enjoy that aspect, but if you are a new patient, go slow, this is one you could easily over do.

Trainwreck (Green Belly Co-Op)

Trainwreck Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Green Belly Co-Op

Grade:  B

Type:  Hybrid – Sativa Dominant.

Price: $20/gram

Appearance:  This was a skinnier, longer bud.  Well taken care of and a 50/50 green to orange ratio.

Aroma:  Earthy, organic fertilizer.

Taste:  More pine cone than pine sol.

Buzz Type:  Heavy sativa.  Big drop off in mood and temperament at 1.5 hours.  We went from sitting to standing to laughing to agitated to complaining and finally to achey.

Buzz Length:  Long.  2 ½ – 3 Hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)   Do not take a heavy sativa like this for anything related to immediate sleep, though 3-4 hours after ingestion your body will be wiped out and comatose-like sleeping is very plausible.  Maybe fatigue or anti-social behavior.  I wouldn’t use this for extended pain relief.

Overall:  This Trainwreck sample is what I remember, MUCH better than the sample we previously reviewed.    At the outset and even 45 minutes into this strain we were sure it would be an A- at worst and had potential for an A.  The issue was that just like the best sugar rush, the down side was fierce.  The energy based rush that had me on my feet and ready to go dumped me on my butt just after it got me out of the house.  Though the buzz continued past 2 hours it was a downward, agitated feeling with multiple reviewers commenting on their aches and pains and general irritability.

NYC Diesel (Pure Medical Dispensary)

NYC Diesel  Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Pure Medical Dispensary

Grade: A

Type:  Sativa

Price:$50 1/8th

Appearance: Well manicured and sugary. Nice sized buds with a deep Green pigment.

Aroma:  Piney fuel smell accustomed to all Diesel strains, but not as gritty, had a faint sweetness if anything.

Taste:  Chemical pine. Good expansion.

Buzz Type:  After a short, maybe two minute delay, it was lift-off.  The first hour was an immobile experience of numb fuzzy limbs, auditory displacement and a head I felt might soon float off my shoulders.  The next hour I actually had to go lay down, feeling the 3 hits I took may have been too much (rare for me).  The third was a very relaxing semi functional hour where I felt no real need for re-medication.

Buzz Length: 2 ½ – 3 Hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)   Made limb and back pain nonexistent.

Overall:  Best Diesel strain I’ve had to date. Be on the look out for the Triple Diesel review coming soon….
