Medicine from Sweet Leaf Inc.

Strain:  Medicine (unknown in-house cross, came from a growing area containing Haze, Hash Plant, Og Kush, Ortega, and Afghani)

From:  Sweet Leaf, Inc.

Pickup Date:  7/5/2011

Inspection Status:  Pass

This sample had moderate trichome coverage, but a decent amount had been damaged or otherwise were missing heads.  The ones that were preserved though ranged from clear to deep blood red, with lots of champagne-colored heads in-between, showing a patient harvest.  The bud structure was open and Sativa in appearance, with a fair amount of thin, dark green guard leaves leaves left on.  While we were not really wowed by the appearance, the harvest timing and maturity level made up for it quite a bit.

A Haze influence seemed clear based on the aroma, which was a fresh and lightly sweet aroma which recalled some of the non-spicy/acrid Haze varieties (Super Lemon Haze came to mind, though this sample had almost no citrus elements).  It’s not an outright pungent sample, but was very pleasant to smell, especially after grinding.  A soft, light flavor was all that was detected with this one, similar to the aroma but it had a pleasing floral spice quality that definitely came through on the palate.  The smoke was very smooth throughout the session and left behind a form-holding light gray and white ash, showing a very good flush.

Durban Poison from Chronorado Medical

Written by KindReviews on June 5th, 2011. Posted in Blog, Med Watch

Strain: Durban Poison (South African Sativa)

From: Chronorado Medical

Pickup Date: 5/26/2011

Inspection Status: Pass

This Durban not only passed inspection, but looked great doing so, with a lots of well-preserved large trichome heads and abundant coverage overall.  They seemed to grow in clusters, as when scoping we would drop into focus and the whole field of view would be nothing but glimmering trichome heads at times, most of which either had amber brewing or were right in the perfect clear/cloudy area… great harvest timing.  We found no flaws with this medicine — the trim could’ve been slightly tighter, but there was nothing that degraded the experience such as tiny seeds.

Another area where this particular Durban shined was in the aroma area.  We were very impressed with not only the pungency but the amazing sweetness this sample possessed, placing it up with the top Durban samples we’ve smelled.  The flavor wasn’t quite as nice, but it had a lot to live up to and was still sweet and pleasant, especially via joint.

Clean, well cared-for, frosty, pungent, and super sweet, this Durban would be a great pickup for those who enjoy the strain.

General Information

Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid

Genetics:  Nobody knows for sure, though it’s thought to be an off-shoot of the Triangle Kush, which came out of Florida in the early 1990′s.  This particular cut was passed on from OrgnKid to Ghost, who then distributed it to select individuals.  Thought by many “in the know” to be the original OG Kush.

Geographic Origin:  Original familial lineage in the Afghanistan-Pakistan mountains, though this particular iteration likely came out of Florida, USA.

Seed Company/Clone: Clone-only, one of the elite cuts in the world
