Golden Goat (Delta 9)

Golden Goat Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Delta 9

Grade:  B

Type:  Hybrid.  Strong Sativa Dominance. (Hawaiian Sativa x ISS x Romulan)

Price:  $40/8th

Appearance:  Does possess a golden hue.  Dry buds, well taken care of.  Plenty of trichs and tendrils to enjoy.

Aroma:  Smells like Durban Poison mixed with lemon juice.

Taste:  A sharp taste when smoked, tingly with a brief pine needle on exhale.

Buzz Type:  Quick and strong while it lasts – mild paranoia.  Sativa high, heart rate increasing.

Buzz Length:  Short. 1 – 1.5 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Certainly for appetite creation.  Worked for neck pain, but it didn’t last long.

Overall:  I like the Golden Goat, strong sativa that would make it very difficult to sit and watch a movie, or sit period.  It could have lasted longer and not had such a peak and valley.  A nice smelling, euphoric strain that may be utilized for short powerful bursts.

Sensi Star Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Urban Dispensary

Grade:  A-

Type:  Indica.

Price: $18/gram

Appearance:  A mix of fall colors, manicured well.

Aroma:  Sweet like flowers, with a soft lemon tone underneath. (We had one bad sample that smelled terrible, but have since confirmed it was somehow tainted.  The follow-up samples smelled very pleasant.)

Taste:  Earthy, organic taste – no fruit or pine.

Buzz Type:  Indica – sort of.  Overwhelming body warmth created, but NO couchlock.  Affected my conversation immediately, ten minutes later I was pacing wondering why I couldn’t get my thoughts out clearly on my notepad.

Buzz Length:  1 solid  hour (only one small hit from pipe) – Larger bowls produced 1.5 – 2 regularly.

Medicinal Use:  (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Don’t use this if you can’t be on your feet.  Don’t use this if you can’t take a core temp increase.  Do use this for mild pain relief, nausea,

Overall:  The Sensi Star surprised me.  I had heard OK reviews, the first sample smelled terrible, and the Star Train had disappointed me.  Then…it blew me away.  I only review first smokes of the day, but it was still just one hit, how was I that high?  The A grade is no doubt a combination of “surprise” and “this is really underrated”, plus it scored an A- prior to discovering it wasn’t supposed to smell like garbage.  I recommend this strain, after all, the dispensary owner prefers this for personal use.

Juliet #3 (Delta 9)

Written by rlp on February 24th, 2010. Posted in B+, Blog, Delta 9 Caretakers, Reviews, Sativa-Dominant Hybrid

From: Delta 9 (JLP’s Juliet)

Grade: B+

Type: Hybrid (C99 femal x NYC Diesel male)

Price: $40/8th

Appearance:  Nice, not the prettiest but well manicured and dry.

Aroma:  Very pleasant following grind.  Familiar but not easy, maybe a sweet dried berry.

Taste: :  Still berry taste but more of a potpourri when smoked. Lasting after taste.

Buzz Type:  Energetic and talkative, could be motivated to get up and go, but also a perfect watch a movie strain. Comfortable in public.

Buzz Length: :  Medium. 1 – 1.5 hours with a half hour of lingering effect.  (Seemed to last longer when Vaporized?)

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) )  Would suggest to help with anxiety and antisocial ailments.  Some mild pain relief…or forgetting.

Overall:  Really like this specimen, and the name is fitting.  You can take her on any date you like – active, chatty, or movie.  Can’t ask for much more, except a longer buzz length.

Bruce Banner #3 (Delta 9)

Bruce Banner #3 Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From: Delta 9

Grade:  A+

Type:  Hybrid,  (Strawberry Diesel x OG Kush)

Price:  $40/8th

Appearance:  Light green buds that were covered in crystals.

Aroma:  Diesel, hash and a slight fruit which is no shocker considering the strains that went into this hybrid.

Taste:  Soil, with a little sweetness.

Buzz Type:  Pretty intense at first with a relaxing finish.

Buzz Length:  Long. 2 – 2.5 hours.

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal OPINION only)  Worked very well for leg, extremity nerve and muscle pains.

Overall: The only bad things I can say about this bud is that I always wanted more and I wish it lasted a little longer. I had an insatiable appetite for this strain. This strain has everything I like in a bud, it comes on strong (almost lock the door turn off the lights strong), then turns energetic then a relaxing finish. This strain has a nice expansion that makes you cough but not to much.  The buds are covered in trichomes and the buds are very well manicured. I was equally impressed that one of the owners of the shop created the Bruce Banner strain and has a degree in Botany.  The owners of the shop are definitely cool people and I would say this is one of my favorite spots.

Re-Review 4.1.2010

Grade: A-

Reason: This particular crop of the BB#3 isn’t quite what we previously reviewed.  While this strain is still AMAZING and should be picked up when available, this grow didn’t produce the same power.  We found the Jack Flash was having a stronger effect across the board, multiple tests confirmed this across all of our reviewers.  The smell was still perfect, one of the very best there is, but it seems maybe the nutrients weren’t fully flushed because not only did we get the trademark “firecracker popping” when the bowl was lit, but we also missed the wonderful taste.  This one was a little soapy tasting.  Hey, we understand it’s hard to live up to the best of the best, so we aren’t disappointed at all.  The fact remains, this strain is at the top with the best in the world in our eyes, but the pent up demand and time pressures seem to have affected this harvest.

UPDATE 9/2/10:  As we have already re-reviewed and lowered the overall grade of this strain, we felt that it was time to pull it from the A+ listing on our site and average it out to an A.  We wanted a fresh start with A+ grades, and though the first batch of Bruce Banner #3 certainly earned its A+ at the time, our standards have since changed and due to the availability of the strain, we have not been able to re-review it with our current three-reviewer methodology.  The historical A+ remains, and the Bruce will always be one of our favorites in Colorado.

Star Train (Plants 4 Life)

Written by rlp on February 23rd, 2010. Posted in B, Blog, Hybrid, Indica-Dominant Hybrid, Plants 4 Life, Reviews

From: Plants 4 Life

Grade: B

Type: Indica Dominant Hybrid – (Sensi Star x Train Wreck)

Price: $50/8th

Appearance: This sample looked to be in good shape (well manicured), no issues to speak of, but nothing special to say either.

Aroma: There was a little sweetness to this one when crushed, but it really just smelled like any non-descript kind pot.

Taste: After a few reviews I’ve settled to say there is a bit of a spicy taste to this one – not a hot spicy, more of a “spiced” cider spicy of some sort.

Effects: This had its indica nature and I could have easily sat on the couch for a couple hours each time I medicated.  However, I rarely have that time available and this Star Train did allow me to function with my family and enjoy some time playing in the yard with only mild neck pain.

Duration: Medium 1.5 – 2 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Some.  I was able to downgrade the pain levels that follow me everywhere enough to enjoy some weekend sun with my family.  Frankly, that’s all I can ask for and this provided it.  However, if given my druthers I’d likely choose one of the other varieties available.

Overall: I liked the Star Train, better than I like the Train Wreck on its own (update: I’ve since confirmed I like the Sensi Star of this combo).  It’s a medium potency strain that can be used in a number of scenarios to manage pain or for sleep.  If you can only choose one to bring with you and you don’t know what environment you may be in, this could be a useful choice.  A middle-road for new patients.
