S.A.G.E. Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From: The High Country

Grade:  A

Plant Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid, Sativa Afghani Genetic Equilibrium)

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  (5/10) Looked fine but had been handled roughly again, something we’ve found at THC’s shop.

Aroma:  (3/10) Smelled just like lawn clippings that have been dried out, not unpleasant but not medicinal levels of pungence.

Taste:  (4/10) Pretty harsh with a mild expansion – very earthy and woody.  Caused coughing.

Medicine Type:  This is an immediate medication, causing the body temparature to rise, perspiring, and general heat radiation.  The first 20-30 minutes feel anxious and rushed, but then things calm down for an easy ride.

Medicine Length:  Long. 2.5 – 3 hours

Medicine Uses: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Medium pain relief, body warmth and no tension.

Overall:  I must say, this one beat me up a little bit at first with its overwhelming barrage, but when the smoke settled I was at total ease.  Must note that I was very content to be alone on this med feeling no real want for outside stimulation.

Blue Dream (CAM)

Written by tlh on April 16th, 2010. Posted in A-, Blog, Colorado Alternative Medicine, Reviews, Sativa-Dominant Hybrid

From:  Colorado Alternative Medicine

Grade:  A -

Type:  Hybrid – sativa heavy  (Blueberry x Haze)

Price: $50/8th – $20/gram

Appearance:  A knotty bud, very pretty and sharp looking.

Aroma:  Like a blueberry cream cheese icing – but only in wafts.  General berry scent after grinding.

Taste:  Not really “blue”, but a tingly sensation on the inside of the lips.  A lesser berry flavor.

Buzz Type:  Sativa heavy hybrid.  A heavy energy body, with an easy mind.

Buzz Length:  Medium.  About an hour, no longer than 1.5.

Medicinal Use:  (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  A very stong body high for differing pains, but with a clear head.  I’m not positive how the Haze affects the Blue in pain management.

Overall:  The Blue Dream really hit me hard but it wasn’t in a space cadet manner.  It provides an ability to interact and a heightened auditory level.  It is a perfect day medication for me and I usually have some on hand.

KindReviews.com is one of the B3 judges at the Boulder Cannabis Festival.  We were given 30 top quality strains and 15 days to review them all!  Every strain has been blind labeled across all judges so we don’t know what they are, but we know which ones look good.  We will make our photos available to our viewers as we continue to make progress through all 30 B3 strains.

ReCON (The High Country)

Written by rlp on April 11th, 2010. Posted in A-, Blog, Indica-Dominant Hybrid, The High Country

From: The High Country

Grade: A-

Type:  Indica dominant.  (DNA genetics – Cannadential x LA Confidential)

Price: $45/8th

Appearance:  Beautifully let go to amber.  A lighter shaded bud.

Aroma:  I didn’t get a good sense of this smell, maybe a mild sweetness.

Taste:  Again, even changing to pipe from the vaporizer didn’t give me a good sense of the taste.  It’s familiar, but I wasn’t able to make any distinguishing notes.

Buzz Type:  Strong yet relaxing, most likely from the growers letting the trichomes go to amber.

Buzz Length:  Medium. 1.5 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Absolutely good for major pains, this is probably one of my top 3 for pain at this point.

Overall:  I really enjoyed this strain. It was calming and peaceful and I ended up wearing a smile the entire time.  Not a go and do things strain to me, much more of a movie strain or a strain to just kick back and chat amongst friends.

Afghani (Medicine Man)

Written by tlh on April 2nd, 2010. Posted in B+, Blog, Indica, Medicine Man, LLC, Reviews

[smooth=id:3;]

From: Medicine Man

Grade: B+

Type: Indica

Price: $50

Appearance: Semi-dark buds with generous amounts of resin all over.  A bit leafy and airy as well.

Aroma: Very pungent smell that is a bit narcotic; what you might consider skunky if you never smelled real “skunky” previously.

Taste: Common knowledge says the taste of pure Afghani/Afghan resembles the taste of hash, and this one sure fits the description.  The taste is very strong from its potent aroma, yet very smooth when exhaled.

Buzz Type: Very mild and mellow buzz.  Afghani is not hybridized, and can deliver a very relaxing body high.  It typically doesn’t make the patient tired, like many other pure indica strains, but creates a sense of being at ease.

Buzz Length: Medium. 1.5 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Confirmed pain relief for back and neck (muscle/nerve).  Confirmed assistance with lower leg spasms and concomitant discomfort.  Afghani is great for inducing the appetite.  Absolutely a great early evening smoke to release body tension, but still leaving some energy until bedtime.

Overall: Afghani/Afghan is a 100% indica strain that originates from Afghanistan, as the name implies, and is often bred in Holland.  It is a very popular medical strain due to its indica heritage, as well as a favorite for breeders.  The Afghani offers a great pure indica buzz that isn’t too stoney (new patients should try this for an indica sample).  On it’s own the Afghani doesn’t deliver the potency many MMJ patients are looking for and we suggest finding a specimen of this strain that has been let go a little more “amber” if you are a seasoned patient.
