Headband Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: A Cut Above
Grade: A
Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid, the real Headband is an unconfirmed lineage clone-only strain also known as “Original Diesel”… the “707 Headband” is (Sour Diesel x OG Kush) x Master Kush
Price: Grams Sold Only of This Strain
Appearance: (9/10) Completely ridiculous trich coverage is the main thing we noticed about this sample… it’s simply loaded with trichs that seem to bend over under their own weight. Its pale green calyxes and pistils look almost white from a distance due to the thick layer of trichomes, but a few deep red pistils poke through to break up the monotony. They were mostly clear or cloudy, but there were about 10% ambers under the microscope. Since it was very dry, it flung trichomes everywhere when handled, and we nearly cried as we broke it up for the reviews. It was of average density and was just a spectacular sample aside from one small flaw; a single tiny immature seed that was found in the sample nug. It’s small beans, as they say…
Aroma: (7/10) Fresh and piney with a bit of fuel is how we’d describe this one pre-grind. When broken, it released a lot more of the fuel scent and increased in pungency markedly (it was only average in the bag/jar).
Taste: (5/10) One of the high points of this strain, the taste was complex and highly enjoyable. It was a pungent blend of citrusy fuel/chemical with a eucalyptus bite and an aromatic Kush aftertaste that hung in the mouth for quite a while. It did make us cough a good amount, mostly due to the generous expansion and a marked but acceptable harshness on the throat. It didn’t seem to burn very clean however, as it left a murky-looking black ash behind, even in an IncrediBowl with a pipe screen.
Effects: The “phantom sweatband” feeling was in full effect with this sample, as all reviewers reported a near-immediate rush of blood to the head and that familiar constrictive feeling around the perimeter. Almost dizzying to start, this sample was truly potent and took even our experienced reviewers a bit by surprise. Another interesting similarity was the shared experience of auditory hallucinations, with one reviewer reporting body vibrations coming from sounds and music far more than normal. The high was concentrated in the head, face, and eyes, with some visual hallucinations and an increase in “eye floaters”. It eventually took us to a slightly more relaxed state, where the Indica side came out a bit. The finish for this strain was very clean and actually seemed to give us a bump in energy instead of the more common Sativa “crash”.
Duration: Medium-Long, 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Energy, anti-depression, relaxation (eventually), mild body pain relief.
Overall: One of the most visually-striking samples we’ve received, this Headband continues the tradition of A Cut Above’s strains that are loaded with insane amounts of trichomes. Those trichs apparently contributed quite the potency punch to this sample, as it knocked our review staff for a bit of a loop with its trippy effects full of hallucinations and a head-spinning initial attack. Once it calmed down a bit though it provided great mood elevation, relaxation, and mild pain relief. We’d warn beginners against this strain, as even a small 0.1g dosage was more than enough to put an experienced patient in another mental dimension for a solid 2.5 hours. If you want a bit of a rollercoaster ride and enjoy the taste of a Sour Diesel or Kush, you owe yourself to try this superb example of Headband, as it was by consensus the best example of it that we’ve ever tried.
Headband (CAM)
Headband Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Colorado Alternative Medicine (CAM)
Grade: A-
Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid, unknown lineage
Price: $50/8th
Appearance: (7/10) Huge yellowish-green calyxes, packed with solid, sugar like crystals. Breaks up real easy to the touch; exploding with keef throughout the nug.
Aroma: (7/10) Diesel smell is very apparent, with a hint of a very fruity berry like scent.
Taste: (6/10) Tastes earthy and piney (kush taste) on exhale. The smoke is a bit spicy that is sure to make you choke.
Medicine Type: The medicine is wonderful. Very tranquil with an excellent blend of both Sativa and Indica. Strong euphoric head buzz that is accompanied with a body blow. Makes me feel very wobbly and places the familiar “headband” right around the top of the noggin’.
Medicine Length: Long. 2 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Upper shoulder-neck feels almost an instant relaxation and feels almost like there is a heating pad on them. No anxiety or nervousness, but a little trippy and potentially paranoia inducing.
Overall: These keefy little nuggets will just crumble into glistening aromatic medicine when handled. A perfect blend of both medicine types makes “Head Band” an instant favorite. I really love the genetics of this strain. Many breed with OG Kush x Sour Diesel and cross back to Sour Diesel, and others have included other genetics such as Master Kush. I can really feel and taste the Sour Diesel from the real euphoric onset and strong smell, but also feel a deep relaxation throughout my body. Tried a few other Head Bands, but this one is grown very proper, showing off its beautiful characteristics to the fullest. Would absolutely pick this specimen up again.
Headband (Delta 9)
Headband Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review
From: Delta 9
Grade: B+
Type: Sativa. (OG Kush x Master Kush x Sour Diesel)
Price: $40/8th
Appearance: Appeared almost fuzzy.
Aroma: Smelled like decomposing or dried fall leaves (not a bad thing).
Taste: Earthy, dried leaves.
Buzz Type: A quick starter that initially came with a surge of motivation and focus, only to be lost in 20 minutes. Another 15-20 min. later I was back on my feet. Up and down, up and down describes this one best for me, it made me tired at times but I still maintained a level of excitement and drive.
Buzz Length: Long. 2-2 ½ hours.
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) A medium pain reliever I would say, didn’t have major pain issues this day but the pain I did have was non-existent after medicating. Felt a concentration in my head (like I was wearing a sports headband) with a comfortable pressure recommended for headaches.
Overall: A strange one in the sense that I was in a constant transition between energy and fatigue, I would recommend getting used to this one before making plans on it. I felt my state of mind change back and forth a few times, which was noticed by others. Overall I liked the Headband, this long lasting strain was a nice change of pace.
