Triple Diesel (Nedicate)

Triple Diesel Medical Marijuana Strain Review

Grade:  A-

Type:  Sativa-Dominant Hybrid (NYCD x Sour Diesel x OG Kush)

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  (8.5/10)  Kind of a scary-looking sample, it’s very dark in color and you can see the ambered trichomes even with the naked eye… there’s around 75% in places and it probably has the most ambers we’ve ever seen on a sample.  The bud structure is lovely and looks very Sativa-heavy, with shaking columns of calyxes built on top of one another in a distinctive “foxtailing” pattern.  Deep red and even black pistils contribute to the dark appearance.

Aroma:  (8.5/10)  Soily and slightly sweet in the jar, it breaks up to produce a fresh menthol-tinged soil scent when handled.  It reminded one reviewer of freshly torn mint leaves…  The pungency was pretty average, but it was enough to be noticed without being right near the bud.

Taste: (6/10)  Not as tasty as we expected, it was a pretty standard Diesel type taste, with a soil tinge similar to what was presented in the smell.  There were no traces of the NYCD or Strawberry Diesel influence with their brand of sweetness, it was mostly just a fuel and soil taste, but not a particularly pungent one.  It burned down to a medium-light gray ash, showing that it had an above-average flush job.

Effects:  This one was much calmer than other Triple Diesel strains we’ve tried, likely due to the insane amount of ambered trichomes and increase in CBN it represents.  It started with a little buzz of energy waves throughout the body but quickly receded to a strongly spacey state with a burning/buzzing sensation behind the eyes that was very potent.  It was a fairly narcotic-feeling experience overall, with waves going through the relaxed body, eyes fading in and out of focus at times, and the urge to mostly remain seated and pursue mental stimulation.  In all, it was a smooth and manageable Diesel strain and didn’t carry the craziness that some of them do.

Duration:  Medium Long, about 2.5 hours

Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Strong attention to the eyes suggests it would help with glaucoma, it also provided quality mental and physical relaxation and minor pain relief.  It was a mood enhancer and would likely help with depression and even mild anxiety, as it didn’t have any “racy” effects at all really.

Overall: We loved the look of this strain, with its super-Sativa foxtailing and swaths of deeply ambered trichomes, and it turned out that those trichomes totally changed the experience that we’ve become accustomed with this strain.  If you normally can’t deal with the racy Sativas but want to try a Diesel strain, this might be a good choice simply because it was so relaxing.  The taste wasn’t anything special, but the smell was unique for the strain, carrying a heavily minty/menthol overtone.  While it would be interesting to see what an early or even medium harvest would do for this particular cut, we actually enjoyed this one more as a daily med than a standard rushy Diesel.

Triple Diesel (Alpine Herbal Wellness)

Triple Diesel Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Alpine Herbal Wellness

Grade:  A-

Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid, Sour Diesel x Strawberry Diesel x NYCD

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  (8/10)  Dark green with slight purple traces.  The density and dryness were superb on this sample.

Aroma:  (5/10)  Not much pungence for a diesel.  It has some pine/soil chracteristics but not the strong fuel you would expect.

Taste:  (4/10)  It has a peppery hint to it, a little spice.  The sample was fairly harsh going in and hits with expansion, so would stay away from small pipes.

Effects:  This was a SLOW creeper, very high CBD ratio expected as this was 7-10 minutes before any real potency was felt – and then POW!  Major cerebral soaring rush, facial and occular pressure building for 30 minutes or more.  The head high stays put but disconnects the legs, so while a crushing sativa experience is had there is no real movement unless it is necessary.

Duration:  Medium.  1.5 – 2 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Moderate pain.  Occular attention.

Overall:  This is one of the real “crusher sativas” that almost mimics an indica couch lock with its oppressive head high.  We’ve found this in other diesels as well.  The popularity of the standard Sour Diesel has pushed forward the palette for various diesel varieties.  Alpine has delivered a very nice sample for your enjoyment.

NYC Diesel (Cherry Creek High Expectations)

NYC Diesel Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From:   Cherry Creek High Expectations

Grade:  A-

Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid

Price:  $50

Appearance:  A nice spade/strawberry shaped bud with long orange hairs.  It was very beautiful, crystal white inside with very high trichome count.  Once broken open it looked like vanilla cake crumbles – so pretty.

Aroma:  A sweet cleaner scent, familiar diesel with a high pungence.

Taste:  Possessed typical diesel taste, slight hashy aftertaste.  It did not match the smell on a pungency level.  Very nice expansion.

Effects:  Immediate head high.  While I was able to clearly and precisely communicate verbally I was unable to coherently write or read anything requiring focus and analysis directly after smoking.  Thirty minutes into the buzz I was able to apply reasoning and analysis again, this carried through the rest of the high along with a heightened energy and motivation level.

Duration:  Medium-Long.  2 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Good for energy and motivaton levels, could provide some euphoria for the depressed psyche, and provides some pain forgetfulness.

Overall:  This specimen of NYCD is very nice.  It gives enough of an initial power punch to allow a patient to feel they got their money worth, but isn’t so overbearing it dictates the next few hours of your life like this NYCD.  This will be a pleasant and appreciated experience for many patients, while others will undoubtedly prefer the “all-out” variety.

Platinum Diesel (Breck Cannabis Club)

Platinum Diesel Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Breck Cannabis Club

Grade:  A

Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid, unknown lineage

Price:  Call to ask

Appearance:  (9/10)  Very green, almost neon.  On the dry side of average with amazing trichome structure and overall appeal.

Aroma:  (9/10)  Very similar to Sour Diesel but even more skunky and pungent.  This is a very strong scent and one you know will give way to great medicine.

Taste:  (9/10) Sweet, berry, citrus, soil.  Very unusual for a diesel, but very welcome and exciting.

Effects:  Sativa effects felt only in this sample.  Immediate reaction behind eyeballs and in the sinus area, and very potent.  A little heavy on the head (as in something you may feel you have to “deal with” for a bit), but not totally overbearing.  It is a creative, mind focused medicine useful for many situations in the day.

Duration:  Long. 2.5 + hours

Medicinal Use:  (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Great appetite stimulant, knocked out mild depression easily, and mild-medium pain relief.

Overall:  This was an excellent sample of Diesel, not exactly sure what the “platinum” adds (similar to a Kush review we did previously), but we did not expect what we found.  So many Diesels are grown now, especially in Colorado where people like the sativa and flavor, yet this one had new smells and tastes, and delivered a very potent medicinal experience.  It’s a drive, but next time I’m in the mountians I will stop in and get some more PlatinumD.

**UPDATE:  Platinum is Amstel Gold x Silver Pearl – would apply to this sample as well as the Platinum Master Kush

ChemDawg (CCH)

ChemDawg Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Cherry Creek Health

Grade:  A-

Type:  Sativa-dominant hybrid, unconfirmed lineage

Price:  $55/8th

Appearance:  (8.5/10) Very light coloration from trichome count.  A great middle road density and no moisture to be found, yet not so dry it crumbles to dust.

Aroma:  (8/10) Quite appealing once you’ve experienced this type of marijuana.  Sour, chemical pine, sweet, soil.

Taste:  (9/10) Excellent taste, very mild and average expansion.  Similar flavor to Sour Diesel strains as this is a major component of that strain – sour, soil, floral, and the famous chemical/fabricated Pine Fresh Scent.

Effects:  Fast acting, the sativa dominant traits lead to a clear, head-based effect.  The medicine delivers itself quickly, but also climbs for a little while before going full-force.  This is a talkative medicine, but with enough indica to not acquire the racey edge.

Duration:  Medium. 1.5 hours

Medicinal Use:  (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Good for anxiety, depression, social interaction issues, and pain relief.

Overall:  The ChemDawg is an amazing strain, used for so many other wonderful varieties you are familiar with.  OG Kush, Diesel, Sour Diesel, NYC Diesel, etc.  Most research shows a large fog cloud surrounding all true origins, but once you’ve smelled ChemDawg you know it’s a building block in much of what you pick up today.  Had this specimen lasted longer it would have been easy to give an A grade.  I definitely recommend getting some ChemD if you have never had it before, as it is a nice daytime or early evening medicine.
