Third Dimension (3D) Medical Marijuana Strain Review

FromPure Medical Dispensary

Grade:  A-

Type:  Sativa-dominant Hybrid, Apollo 13 x Jack the Ripper from TGA Seeds

Price:  $50/8th

Full Spectrum Laboratories cannabinoid testing data is available for all of Pure’s strains, so please stop by the shop to see where the most recent harvests shook out.

Appearance:  (8/10)  Though its structure was slightly on the wispy side, this strain gleamed with trichomes and caught our eye from the display case.  The coloring was a standard mix of rich Sativa light green and darker leaves with slender orange pistils — the harvest timing was very nice, with about 15% ambered trichomes.  With a good manicure and a nicely dry texture, this was an easy smoke.

Aroma:  (8.5/10)  Reminding us of expensive hand soaps and dryer sheets, the aroma from the 3D was a relatively sweet pine-citrus sharpness. with a little whiff of skunk  The sweet elements came out more after a grind, but it was relatively pungent even in the jar.

Taste: (8/10)  Much like the aroma but less pungent, the flavor was an odd, yet appealing mix of chemical pine and an almost flowery/perfumed sweetness.  We wish it was more pungent, but it was a bit of an ethereal taste.  This strain caused coughing in all reviewers to varying degrees and was a little on the harsh side overall despite the near-white final ash.

Effects:  Likely in part due to the coughing that we all experienced, this strain began with a typical rush of warmth and pressure to the head and face, with quite a bit of perspiration around the eyes and brow — the head also felt light and floaty, like a jack-in-the-box.  The primary mental effect was a sense of an almost frenzied focus that would jump between things but rarely stayed on the “important” ones… a scatter-brained focus if that makes sense.  Due to that, the energy didn’t feel particularly productive and left us unsure what to really do with ourselves at times.  That eventually passed and left a much more focused and productive state, though without the buzzing energy… this med left us feeling a little drained by the end.

Duration:  Medium, 2 – 2.5 hours

Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  A bit strange and unsettling at times, this strain was all about the energy at first, but the mental focus wasn’t there to back it up.  There was a lot of ocular attention, and we also noticed a little uptick in creativity and some anti-nausea properties.  Genetically, this strain is known to be good for RSD, MS, and fibromyalgia symptoms.

Overall: The “bag appeal” for this one was very high, and it caught our attention amongst Pure’s 20 or so other strains in the display case, which speaks to that.  A complex taste and smell package led into a supremely energetic but unfocused state that may be good for creativity but made it a little difficult to deal with daily tasks.  This was a very strongly Sativa experience, complete with slight “crash” at the end — people who cannot handle the racy varieties should steer clear of this one, as that was its main property.

Grand Daddy Purps (Pure Medical Dispensary)

Grand Daddy Purple

From: Pure

Grade:  A-

Type:  Indica. (most commonly Purple Urkle x Big Bud)

Price:  $45 an 8th

Appearance:  Very Purple with orange tendrils, almost no green to be seen.

Aroma: Fresh grape smell with a piney undertone and hints of Tobacco.

Taste: Roasted berries and potpourri.

Buzz Type: A soft smooth start to an intense head high accompanied by slight and short lived uneasiness.  The G.D.P.’s power shows in both strength and duration, two hours of functional couch lock ultimately led to an hour long early evening nap afterwards - awoke still feeling medicated.

Buzz Length:  Long.  2 ½ – 3 hours with linger

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)   A numbing strain that eliminated lower back pain and achy limbs.  Most recommended for night time the G.D.P. offers a great relaxation effect when sleep is in the near future.

Overall:   It earns high marks for its strong indica effects and great medicinal attributes, but doesn’t earn an A outright because this specimen did not display common GDP attributes in shape or smell.   It was a good purple strain regardless and should be picked up if you like indicas or purple strains.

Blue Dream Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Pure

Grade:  B+

Type:  Hybrid – sativa heavy  (Blueberry x Haze)

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  Well manicured, dry buds.  This sample was less “knobby” than our previous review.  Solid two-tone Lime and Orange.

Aroma:  Pine, clean fresh with medium pungence.  Nofamiliar berry scent found on nug - though plenty in jar at store.

Taste:  Sweet with good expansion.

Buzz Type:  Sativa.  Very chatty buzz, easy for social interaction, a smooth ride.

Buzz Length:  Short. 1-1.5 hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)   A lot of head and eye concentration – extremely dry eyes.  Moderate pain subduer at best, wouldn’t recommend for that use.  Good for anxiety or depression.

Overall:  I liked this Blue Dream, but not as much as I liked this Blue Dream.  This specimen had less aroma, had a shorter buzz, and left me a bit more tired than what I expected.  That said, it was a nice smooth smoke that would be great for a newer patient with anxiety if they needed an hour or so out of the house.

NYC Diesel (Pure Medical Dispensary)

NYC Diesel  Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review

From:  Pure Medical Dispensary

Grade: A

Type:  Sativa

Price:$50 1/8th

Appearance: Well manicured and sugary. Nice sized buds with a deep Green pigment.

Aroma:  Piney fuel smell accustomed to all Diesel strains, but not as gritty, had a faint sweetness if anything.

Taste:  Chemical pine. Good expansion.

Buzz Type:  After a short, maybe two minute delay, it was lift-off.  The first hour was an immobile experience of numb fuzzy limbs, auditory displacement and a head I felt might soon float off my shoulders.  The next hour I actually had to go lay down, feeling the 3 hits I took may have been too much (rare for me).  The third was a very relaxing semi functional hour where I felt no real need for re-medication.

Buzz Length: 2 ½ – 3 Hours

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)   Made limb and back pain nonexistent.

Overall:  Best Diesel strain I’ve had to date. Be on the look out for the Triple Diesel review coming soon….
