Super Silver Haze #2 Medical Marijuana Strain Review
Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid, (Skunk #1 x Haze C) x (Northern Lights #5 x Haze C), from Green House Seeds (#2 phenotype)
Appearance: (8/10) Light green calyxes with darker green leaves and pale orange (almost yellow) pistils. The strain was so covered with trichomes that it looked even paler to the naked eye. It was slightly on the leafy side compared to what we prefer, but the leaves were covered with trichomes, so we didn’t mind much.
Aroma: (8/10) This particular example of Super Silver Haze was on the pine-menthol end of the Haze spectrum, but also carried a mild sweetness and a sour citrus bite. It’s a nicely complex aroma that is definitely characteristic of Haze strains, which can basically run the gambit smell-wise but almost always have a bite to them. The smell didn’t exactly blow any reviewers away, but it was well-liked and scored above average in the pungency category.
Taste: (7/10) As expected, the taste was similar to the aroma and carried quite a bit of the piney Haze flavor (one reviewer noted the taste of eucalyptus) with a citrusy note on the finish. It wasn’t our favorite, but it had a very solid and recognizable Haze taste.
Effects: The initial onset of this strain is quick and fierce; there was definitely a lot of somewhat misguided energy, a roaring face and head high, and a ton of cerebral effects (visual/auditory sharpness being the main ones). The need to get up and move around was a common theme with this strain, though the powerful and somewhat fuzzy (typical Haze) high would often leave that motivation with no clear outlet. As the strain mellowed over the first 45 minutes to an hour, it took on a much more relaxing profile, with some numbing effects that yielded good results for mild back spasms and pain.
Duration: Long. 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Mild to moderate body pain management, appetite stimulant, energy, possible relief from ocular disorders.
Overall: There was some amount of disagreement between the reviewers as to its overall efficacy, but this sample is certainly one of the nicest examples of Super Silver Haze available around Denver (one reviewer said it gave him a new-found respect for SSH as a strain). Regardless of that, its racy and somewhat disorienting high that levels out into a nicely-hazy state of relaxation was well-liked overall but was thought to not be effective for severe pain. If you are a Haze fan, you owe it to yourself to give this one a try, but it probably won’t help much if you have severe pain issues. This one is just another in the line of quality in-house strains from Herbal Element, a soaring Sativa with that distinctive Haze experience.
Afkansastan Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Herbal Element
Type: Indica, pure Afghani lineage strain that was named after where it was refined
Appearance: (8/10) Dark green with slight purple hues, nearly invisible brick red pistils. Solid trichome count and large calyxes, with most of the trichs being cloudy or amber (late harvest). Burned to dark gray ash, could have used better/longer flush possibly.
Aroma: (8/10) Very complex and unexpected for a pure Afghani strain… the sweetness and multitude of smells was great. It was hard to describe, but I definitely got some dark fruity/berry notes, especially post-grind when the pungence skyrocketed.
Taste: (8/10) Similar to smell, berries that did not earth out like most sweet ones do, more like it hashed out slightly.
Effects: Instant and extremely clean relaxed feeling but not the intense crushing indica takeover expected. Body went from tight and anxious to loose and calm with a pulsing from top to back of head. Very comfortable and very welcome start. It progresses to a really positive and happy experience, sometimes just causing smiles. Great mix of head and body, strong in both areas. It lets up quite a bit 1.5 hours in, but I was able to cook dinner totally pain-free and it never made me want to just sit around even though the body high was so present and relaxing.
Duration: Long. 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Pain inhibitor, muscle relaxer, depression, anxiety. Temperature was not affected, systolic blood pressure remained level and diastolic only rose between 5-10 for an hour, but heart rate did skyrocket at least 15 BPS during the intitial 30-45 minutes across all reviewers.
Overall: Like a rollercoaster with a big first drop, this one was strong off the bat and then finished out much calmer. We loved the mixed nature of the high, and it felt almost equal in terms of mental and physical effects. The unexpectedly sweet and fruity taste and smell was a great addition to the effects. I’d recommend this to almost anyone, as it was balanced and not too strong… and may be our new in-house favorite “easy indica”.
Killer Queen Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Herbal Element (Denver Highlands)
Type: Hybrid, “Evil Pineapple” pheno Cinderella 99 x Airborne G-13
Appearance: (8/10) Light green and yellow from crystal coverage. Great manicure, cure, and density. Some rough handling created a few too many headless trichomes.
Aroma: (9/10) Sweet, juicy, fruit when broken into. Pungence goes from a 4 to an 8 when crumbled, just really takes off and fills the room.
Taste: (7/10) The aftertaste gets sweeter and sweeter, following an orginal light pine/skunk. Burned to a grey/white ash, very nearly perfectly clean.
Effects: Killer Queen hits your head, forehead and eyes very hard. Your arms and body will likely pulse with a euphoric rush. Increased auditory focus. Able to write and follow thought patterns/instructions physically – mind and body are still connected. The soothing cerebral effects give way to heavy eyelids and a slight draining feeling towards the end. This is a moderate come down.
Duration: Long. 2 – 3 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Mild to moderate pain killers. No anxiety caused with this strain, in fact it delivers a nice happy calming sensation. It focused in the head for a while, also created appetite.
Overall: The Killer Queen has one of those names, a smoker gravitates and many patients stear clear. Don’t be alarmed though, if you are a newer or lower tolerance patient this strain may still be for you. The disposition and moderate pain inhibitors make this a perfect daytime medication. It was potent but people friendly. Chores won’t be forgotten, work can get done, and all the while you have a pleasant head and body high.
The White Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Herbal Element (Denver Highlands)
Type: Indica-dominant hybrid, phenotype of “Triangle”, a Florida based strain
Appearance: (9/10) Excellent trichome count, sugar leaves are completely covered as well. Pale green and orange, very white looking. Better than average on density and dryness counts.
Aroma: (7/10) Indica pine sol, fresh.
Taste: (5/10) Pine taste, but not strong. Medium harshness and expansion.
Effect: Immediate, strong effect felt as a numbing in top of head. Auditory range closing in. Mixed bag of body indica and mild mental sativa attributes. Good indica for daytime medication which isn’t typical, and a nice clear experience. No burnout or exhaustion as the medicine wears off. Complete clarity, no paranoia or tension whatsoever.
Duration: Medium. 2 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Great pain relief, overall relaxation. A perfect daytime indica for those needing a little more than a sativa for pain as the White does contain some focus and energy qualities.
Overall: This strain, a great pheno from a group of Triangle Bag Seeds, appears to have been grown perfectly. It provides a mellow and clean ride, but with great potency at the same time. The effects allow chores and motivation to be a part of your day but in a terrific indica type way. Please do see for yourself and let us know your thoughts below.
