Bubbleberry Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From: The Herbal Center

Grade: C+

Type: Hybrid, typically Indica dominant (Bubble Gum x Blue Berry)

Price: $40/8th Members

Appearance: (6/10) Pretty good manicure, not many leaves, and the ones that are present are nice and frosty. Pretty typical blend of greens with light orange pistils, decent amount of ambers in the interior calyxes of the cluster, but mostly clear/cloudly otherwise. Small seeds spotted in the grinder, very tiny and hard to see though. This may have caused some of the snapping/popping that happened, but the gray ash might also speak to a not-great flush.

Aroma: (7/10) Musky berry smell, not very sweet, but pretty pungent.

Taste: (3/10) Burned my throat a bit and made me cough several times. Not much taste in this sample, just smokey.

Effects: Intitially focused itself behind the eyes and gave a body high to the legs. This sample was not very potent, even when smoked heavily via the Incredibowl. It provided a slight pulsing sensation around the head for about an hour, and then remained only in the legs. This sample was difficult to describe because the potency just wasn’t great enough to produce easily identifiable traits.

Duration: Medium. Almost 2 hours

Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) General relaxation and appetite stimulant.

Overall: For a very healthy dosage, this one was fairly weak in terms of potency. It was a nicely balanced and pleasurable high, but it just didn’t feel all that medicinal in terms of the potency and effects. While it helped my general tension, it didn’t do much of anything for my more severe pain and nerve issues. The taste and harsh smoke wasn’t my cup of tea at all, and neither was the aroma (though many might find that aspect more appealing). Compared to this Bubbleberry, it didn’t cut the mustard.

Mother’s Finest Medical Marijuana Strain Review

From: Green Belly Co-Op

Grade: C+

Type: Sativa dominant hybrid.

Price: $50/8th

Appearance: (5/10) A little leafy, crisp but not too dry. White pistils with plenty of greens.

Aroma: (4/10) Had the scent of mid-grade generic medicine, very mild pine, soil and hay.

Taste: (3/10) This sample had a very low-grade organic matter taste with nothing pleasant about it except for the fact it wasn’t very harsh.

Effects: This was a slow starting and very heavy headed medicine resembling schwag mexican sativa in many regards. It was a heavy come down and made everyone tired and sluggish.

Duration: Short. Less than 1 hour.

Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Possibly insomnia.

Overall: This was one of the lower end samples we’ve received from Green Belly and we wouldn’t recommend picking it up if you are in that area. There are plenty of other good medicines at their Co-Op however – Velvet Haze and Hindu Kush x Diesel. Although Mother’s Finest was a Cup Winner in it’s first year, its big yield and short flower have contributed to its now common run of the mill nature. This sample certainly wasn’t a great representation.

Well it’s official, we’ve reviewed 100 strains since our very first site was launched! It’s the perfect time to revisit every grade we’ve given and redistribute some of the grades to get a proper bell curve. We know that not everyone likes or understands a bell curve, but after a lot of deliberation we decided it was in the best interest of the patients and the dispensaries to grade under one. Colorado’s MMJ scene is similar to many other highly competitive and leading environments (law school, med school, MBA school) in that we have collected the best of the best and a normal grading system would just let us know that every strain (or every student) is well above average and deserves a good grade.

The bell curve will spread the bulk of the reviews to the B+ grade and provide for only a handful of A+ and C+ grades (the respective best and worst of the best). There will be no lower grade than a C+ in our system. We plan to perform this exercise every 50 or 100 reviews so that we keep consistent to our mission of providing the most rigorous and honest review depository. Some of the grades will change during this process, but nothing should change more than 1 grade position up or down and we will make a post edit to clearly mark the orginal grade and the modified grade and date.

As always, be sure to make comments below and share your opinions. We know not everyone will agree with our choices and grading system but we feel this is the best possible grading structure. As time goes by every KindReviews.com reader will know that the review grade on every strain stands against every other strain in our database. That is how we are different.

UPDATE 9/2/10: Readers, you’ve probably noticed that we cleaned out our A+ section… Basically, the A+’s that existed are being classified as historical reviews because the medicine is either no longer available, has since been re-reviewed and lowered, or simply wasn’t reviewed under the current (and we believe the best) methodology of a three reviewer team. Because we strongly believe that only the very top strains should get a KindReviews A+, we are starting fresh post-HB 1284 and the changes it brought with no A+ reviews. This way you can be assured that when the next A+ rolls around, it was unanimous among our staff and is truly the absolute top level of medical marijuana you will see in the state. I hope you understand.

To any shops who have had their A+’s removed, please don’t take it as a sign of disrespect — we (like you) are trying to continually improve our methods and felt that this was necessary in order to keep the intent of the site intact, namely, functioning as a patient’s guide to finding the best medication. When strains have an A+ but are no longer being produced or are not readily-available, it can send patients on a goose chase that isn’t productive for anyone. We hope that a fresh start in this regard will help to push MMCs to reach a higher standard… we’ll surely have a new crop of A+’s by this time next year.

We will also be performing another Bell Curve adjustment soon, so if you see grades shifting around, that’s what happened. As always, feel free to share any thoughts in the comments section — we welcome your feedback!

Grade: C+

Type: Indica

Price: $20/g

Appearance: It looks like Urkle to me having seen samples over the years. Plenty of purple and solid hairing, beautiful mix of colors – reminded me of a lesser version of the Afro Berry from just looks.

Aroma: This Urkle had the nice aroma you expect (more fake candy grape than real grape), but it was not as strong as I remember. This was very dry and could have been an old sample, I’m not sure.

Taste: Nothing harsh, but missing the flavor people talk about with this strain.

Effects: This is an Indica, but it had an irregular effect for us. (We both reviewed this one twice because of the unexpected nature of it).

Duration: Medium. 1 – 1.5 hours

Pain Management: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) We both have muscle issues and I have spine/shoulder nerve pain as well. This strain made me immediately tense and actually heightened my awareness of my muscle issues in my back and neck. I had my wife drive me to get a massage about an hour after smoking and the car ride was unpleasant.

Overall: I was less than thrilled with this specimen and typically feel this strain is a solid B + variety. If I saw this one again I would ensure the smell was very strong and hope it was indicative of a fresher/better specimen than this particular sample.
