Golden Goat (Delta 9)
Golden Goat Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review
From: Delta 9
Grade: B
Type: Hybrid. Strong Sativa Dominance. (Hawaiian Sativa x ISS x Romulan)
Price: $40/8th
Appearance: Does possess a golden hue. Dry buds, well taken care of. Plenty of trichs and tendrils to enjoy.
Aroma: Smells like Durban Poison mixed with lemon juice.
Taste: A sharp taste when smoked, tingly with a brief pine needle on exhale.
Buzz Type: Quick and strong while it lasts – mild paranoia. Sativa high, heart rate increasing.
Buzz Length: Short. 1 – 1.5 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Certainly for appetite creation. Worked for neck pain, but it didn’t last long.
Overall: I like the Golden Goat, strong sativa that would make it very difficult to sit and watch a movie, or sit period. It could have lasted longer and not had such a peak and valley. A nice smelling, euphoric strain that may be utilized for short powerful bursts.
Star Train (Plants 4 Life)
From: Plants 4 Life
Grade: B
Type: Indica Dominant Hybrid – (Sensi Star x Train Wreck)
Price: $50/8th
Appearance: This sample looked to be in good shape (well manicured), no issues to speak of, but nothing special to say either.
Aroma: There was a little sweetness to this one when crushed, but it really just smelled like any non-descript kind pot.
Taste: After a few reviews I’ve settled to say there is a bit of a spicy taste to this one – not a hot spicy, more of a “spiced” cider spicy of some sort.
Effects: This had its indica nature and I could have easily sat on the couch for a couple hours each time I medicated. However, I rarely have that time available and this Star Train did allow me to function with my family and enjoy some time playing in the yard with only mild neck pain.
Duration: Medium 1.5 – 2 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Some. I was able to downgrade the pain levels that follow me everywhere enough to enjoy some weekend sun with my family. Frankly, that’s all I can ask for and this provided it. However, if given my druthers I’d likely choose one of the other varieties available.
Overall: I liked the Star Train, better than I like the Train Wreck on its own (update: I’ve since confirmed I like the Sensi Star of this combo). It’s a medium potency strain that can be used in a number of scenarios to manage pain or for sleep. If you can only choose one to bring with you and you don’t know what environment you may be in, this could be a useful choice. A middle-road for new patients.
Bubba Kush (Dr.Reefer)
From: Dr. Reefer
Grade: B
Type: Hybrid – Indica dominant genetics. Don’t know Dr. Reefer’s exact genetics, but most info points to Bubble Gum x Master Kush (or OG Kush). Bubble Gum can be Indica or Sativa dominant based upon the specific seed or clone, but was originally made from 3 Sativas and 1 Afghani Indica.
Price: $30/gram
Appearance: Although it was really pretty, this category is one of the reasons this specimen didn’t score higher. The buds were loose with a lot of space inside. They were there but you could see right through them, like the AT&T 3G map. They had beautiful color, but they just weren’t grown up to the highest standards. Kush is often lighter and less dense, but this was past the norm in my opinion.
Aroma: A mild piney smell up front followed by a very light fruit undertone (not a strong fruit or citrus as often reported).
Taste: Tastes as expected from the smell, with an unexpected familar residue that reminded me of some old “cough” strains from FTC970 in the mid to late 90′s.
Buzz Type: Though Indica dominant, I was met with an immediate energy and euphoria that had me on my feet rocking back and forth in the kitchen. There was no couch lock incentive at all, and I was extremely talkative. I believe this strain has the sativa heavy version of the Bubble Gum in its roots.
Buzz Length: Medium. 1 – 1.5 hours
Pain Management: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) I found this strain to assist with mild-medium pain, but not sufficient for over the top pain. It isn’t going to knock you out if that’s what you need. It will provide motivation, however, and that is often useful depending on your needs.
Overall: I liked the Bubba Kush quite a bit. With a little better growing I think this could have been an A- strain, but I don’t think the Bubba Kush in general can score much higher than that. The OG Kush and the Plum Kush reviewed previously are both better options if you have them available.
