Island Sweet Skunk (Sweet Leaf Compassion Center)
Island Sweet Skunk Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review
From: Sweet Leaf Compassion Center
Grade: B+
Type: Sativa Dominant
Price: $50/8th
Appearance: Well manicured and nicely taken care of. Dry buds.
Aroma: A medium pungence – sweet citrus scent.
Taste: Clean and fresh with some PineSol in the finish. Very refreshing.
Buzz Type: Much more of a energetic Sativa in this one which surprised me. I’m more accustomed to an I.S.S that knocks me back a bit instead of energizing me – great pick-up and mental clarity.
Buzz Length: Short. 1.25 – 1.5 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Not the typical relief as I am used to in the previous I.S.S. strains. Could be used for a quick stint of mental acuity.
Overall: This was a nice I.S.S. in that it could be used in multiple environments and has a good sativa kick to it. The drawbacks are that it isn’t near as potent as some of the others and it didn’t have long legs.
AK-48 (Sweet Leaf)
AK-48 Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review
From: Sweet Leaf
Grade: A
Type: Hybrid Indica dominant. (The father is Jock Horror, a three-way hybrid that combines genetics from Northern Lights, Skunk, and Haze. Its Ice mother has ancestors of Afghani, Skunk, Northern Lights and Shiva stock.)
Price: $50/8th
Appearance: Beautiful. I knew right when I pulled this bud out to photograph it was fire.
Aroma: A faint clean(lemon?) piney smell
Taste: This one tasted like outside on a damp spring day, think fresh growth with wet pavement that was just pinesol’d. Medium expansion.
Buzz Type: Strong body without couchlock. This is one of my favorite Indica hybrids to date. It was potent and you are comfortable sitting and relaxing, but cognizant enough to take care of business or have meaningful interaction if needed. Time flew by.
Buzz Length: Long. 2.5 – 3 hours
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Absolutly good for leg pain – mine is a combination of muscle cramps/spasms and strong internal bone aches that doctors can’t diagnose. I did get an appetite about an hour in.
Overall: This is a bud I will go back for again and again. Perfect summer afternoon chill or go out and hang with friends, very versatile with relaxing overtones. Many of today’s multi-breed strains seem more like abominations and fail to provide me with a real identity of their own, but the AK-48 takes all its ancenstry in stride and presents itself like an original.
Purple Indica (Sweet Leaf)
Purple Indica Medicinal Marijuana Strain Review
From: Sweet Leaf
Grade: B
Type: Indica.
Price: $18/gram
Appearance: Appeared white or light shade from the bottom of the bud and a nice moderate purple from the top.
Aroma: Sweet smelling, not fruity and not earthy.
Taste: I found this sample to lack a decisive taste, not much expansion.
Buzz Type: Heavy indica. This purple variety came on heavy and quick, with a strong anti-social component. I found myself in the bedroom with the door shut just hoping nobody was going to knock. The high intensity fell off significantly at a half-hour after ingestion, but I was still indifferent to the TV and people.
Buzz Length: Medium. 1 – 1.5 hours.
Medicinal Use: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Great sleeping aid, worked well for my neck/nerve pain.
Overall: There was nothing bad to say about the bud itself, well presented and taken care of. However, with so many nice Indicas available today I simply have a hard time seeking one out that provides such a strong anti-social element. I’m finding more and more of the purple strains with this string attached. I will admit that certain situations may actually call for this behavior so please make you own call as always.
