Cinderella 99 Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Grasshopper Wellness
Grade: A-
Type: Sativa-dominant Hybrid, (‘Princess’ was a specially-selected Sensi Jack Herer F2 from the late 90′s… a male seed from the same batch was crossed to a special Shiva Skunk female, producing some male seeds suitable for breeding… one of those males was crossed with Princess… after that was done, Princess was ‘cubed’ by being bred to her male offspring through four successive generations until stabilized, so C-99 is ideally much like the Princess mother plant)
Price: $48/8th
Appearance: (8.5/10) A very interesting-looking sample with a scary amount of trichomes visible to the naked eye, this Cindy was a fairly rich but definitely yellowish green, due at least in part to the generous cloudy trich coverage. On closer inspection, the trichomes were almost all cloudy, but there were plenty that had been a little bit beat up and were missing their heads. The strain had a little spongy quality to it but was well-dried and had good density for a Sativa.
Aroma: (8.5/10) Absolutely amazing example of a Cinderella… as soon as it was cut into or ground, it filled the room with its pungent and slightly putrid/musky fruit bouquet. There are notes of skunk, pine, and citrus — it almost adds up to the fabled “evil pineapple” smell, but the skunkiness was the strongest non-fruit aroma. Still, it was clear that this was the Pineapple pheno rather than the Grapefruit pheno, which are the two most standard expressions of C-99.
Taste: (8/10) There’s a tangy fruity sweetness that hits the tongue immediately, but also notes of chemical pine (Pine Sol) that can be detected. Similar to the smell for sure, but with more sweetness and no real traces of skunk. The really attractive part about this strain was how smooth it was on the throat, even while expanding like crazy and producing a thick smoke. The final ash was a little iffy, as it was mostly dark gray or black with white areas rather than the other way around.
Effects: A rising heat throughout the upper body and head/face signaled the beginning of the effects of Cindy, moving quickly into a buzzy energetic state, complete with the Sativa trademarks of face pressure and ringing in the ears. While the start seemed on its way to a crushingly potent experience, it dropped somewhat quickly into a very energetic but focused and functional state where sociability and creativity flowed freely. This was a great strain for professional situations because it kept us mentally sharp and energetic and was “stealth” in the sense that the eyes remained clear and open. The linear nature of these effects was nice and predictable, staying right on the “energetic and cerebral Sativa” path until the end, where a light crash awaited.
Duration: Medium-Long, 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Cindy is loaded with energy, positivity, and lends a nice mental sharpness to tasks, which makes it a superb creative and professional situation strain. There wasn’t much in the way of body effects, but the ocular attention suggests it may aid glaucoma patients, etc.
Overall: We wish there was a little more peak and lasting potency with this one, but it may have been a blessing in disguise due to the shifty and somewhat trippy nature of C-99 as a strain — it’s often too much for people, even many experienced patients. But this one was different, with a manageable potency that left us feeling spry and ready to take on anything, especially mental tasks. The coursing energy and warm/flushed-feeling body made for a strain that had us standing and remaining active for the majority of the review. It’s a wonderful social strain as well, and carried a generally happy and positive attitude along with it. Unlike most C-99′s, we can safely recommend this one to newer patients who want to see what the legendary strain is all about — don’t go wild with the dosage and it should be a lovely experience.
Purple Dragon
Purple Dragon Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Grasshopper Wellness (on Federal)
Grade: B+
Type: 60/40 Sativa-Dominant, Northern California clone scene cut that is possibly a “selfed” Purple Erkel with Sativa traits, or Blue Dragon x Urkle
Price: $48/8th inc. tax
Appearance: (8/10) A very pretty purple strain that looked nicer than some others we’ve seen, this one was immaculately manicured and looked like a typical purple in its color palette. It was basically perfect texture-wise and was above-average in trich coverage (mostly clear and cloudy, hardly any ambers).
Aroma: (8/10) A very stinky and musky example of a Purple strain… the pungent musk carries notes of “dark” fruits like plums and grapes, which really came out after the grind. In the jar it’s got a nice skunkiness to it as well that adds to the pungency… an impressive bouquet overall, though a little on the “impressive but not exactly pleasurable” side due to the strong musk factor.
Taste: (7/10) Slight disagreements here, which may have come from getting samples from different nugs/plants… One reviewer got an almost cotton candy/bubble gum sweetness while another complained of some sizzling and snapping that marred the experience and killed the real flavor a bit. Based on previous experience with this strain, one reviewer posited that this harvest wasn’t as well flushed, as the ash was murky-looking and the sizzling when burning and degraded taste added weight to that conclusion. This strain has tasted nicer in the past, with those experiences mostly matching that of the first reviewer… basically, take this taste grade with a grain of salt, as this is an in-house strain and every harvest will vary slightly according to treatment.
Effects: Definitely strong in Sativa qualities for a purple strain, this one was almost buzzy and energetic throughout the body and behind the eyes. That subsided fairly quickly though and turned into more of a passive pain relief quality, where one reviewer with back issues was able to work in the garden for nearly 2 hours with no pain to speak of, even after having spasms that morning. Though it provided quality relief, it didn’t possess much of an actual body feeling (i.e. buzzing, pulsing, warmth), which was a little unique. It also seemed to have almost no effect on cognition… totally clear-headed and aware, which again is unusual for a purple strain. This was a great choice for clear-headed relief and it also left our eyes clear and wide open… good “covert” strain that also made us weirdly motivated while being thoroughly relaxed.
Duration: Medium-Long, 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Clear-headed relief, body tension/pain relief, motivation
Overall: Purple Dragon is a very interesting Purple strain, as it lacks many of the trademarks aside from the color and taste. Instead of an almost narcotic or “druggy” feeling that some Purples create, this one was nicely clear and motivated while still carrying the medicinal qualities that cause many patients to seek out Purple strains. It was very well grown and manicured, but the flushing issues definitely took it down a notch taste-wise, which is a shame, as the strain itself is extremely tasty and it’s been better in the past. This strain is a superb choice for those patients who desire pain and tension relief while not feeling (or looking) drugged up or lazy as is often the case with purple strains.
Sugar Hashplant

Sugar Hashplant Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Grasshopper Wellness (on Federal)
Grade: B+
Type: Indica-Dominant Hybrid, blend of an old 90′s strain called “Sugar #7″ and a Hashplant
Price: $48/8th inc. tax
Appearance: (9/10) Absolutely loaded with trichs, this sample screams potency when you just look at it. It’s rather light in color for a Hashplant-hybrid, with a verdant light green and orange pistils as the primary colors… they’re all so frosty it looks nearly white though. Mainly cloudy trichs were present, and it leaves a little dusty trail wherever it goes due to the sheer amount of crystals.
Aroma: (6/10) This strain has an interesting musky vegetal smell that reminded one reviewer of leaves, but it also had just a slight sweetness that had notes of overripe fruit (mangoes sometimes have that same astringent, overripe smell). It was moderately pungent but isn’t really a strain that will sell based on the smell alone… still pretty nice though, and fairly unique.
Taste: (6/10) Maybe the smoothest-smoking Hashplant hybrid any of us has come across, this one was absolutely velvety on the throat and almost felt like water vapor. However, like many other Hashplant hybrids, it was basically a blend of not-so-amazing tastes that included smoke, hash, earth, and spice. Nothing that we really love, but basically what is to be expected from a Hashplant cross… only rare crosses will escape that fate it seems. Not too expansive, this one would be great for people who can’t handle much coughing…
Effects: The Sugar #7 influence could be felt at the onset, as the initial feeling is very Sativa in nature, with a rising heat (and slight pressure) in the upper torso and head, and an increased heart rate which made it feel almost speedy to start. After about 20 minutes, it calmed down into a state of quality body relaxation that left us feeling a little numb and couchlocked, but not due to laziness… mostly because it just felt good to sit and relax. It was a suitable strain for something like watching a sporting event on TV, where you’re engaged and aware but not actually mentally active… would be a nice after-work type of “unwinding” strain as well. It provided moderate pain and tension relief and generally made the body feel comfortable and sound and provided a nice uptick in mood.
Duration: Medium-Long, 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Pain/tension relief, general relaxation, mood elevation, hypertension
Overall: While the look was simply on another level, this strain was a very solid above-average experience in the other areas. We never really expected much in the taste.smell areas since it’s a Hashplant cross, and that worked out about as expected. The trichome coverage was a little bit misleading, as this strain was never overpoweringly strong or particularly long-lasting — however, it provided balanced relief and relaxation for the pains of a normal day while also giving a little uptick in mood and general feeling of well-being. For such a strongly Indica cross, it was rather clear-headed and functional, making it suitable for pain relief and relaxation when in professional situations and other times a patient doesn’t want to be super-medicated mentally.
