Name: Full Melt Bubble Hash

From: Green Dream Health Services

Type: Full melt bubble hash, water extraction (various strains)

Price: $30/gram

Consumption Method:  Small bubbler with titanium screen

This full melt sample was well-dried and appealing to the eye, with the proper spectrum of brown, gold, and blonde, with a little bit of green being visible upon magnification.  The green normally shows that the extraction wasn’t quite as pure as it could’ve been and that there was some plant matter left in the final product, which is the main knock we had on this one.  As it was made from a collection of mixed strains rather than one in particular, it was difficult to pull much specific out of the smell and taste — it was mostly slightly peppery, with some citrus-like notes in the smell and an incense-like smell to the actual smoke.

It burned away to a white ash rather than fully melting as we expected it to — the residual plant matter is probably to blame for that.  Our initial thought was that it may have been over-extracted or done via machine, as it seemed well-done otherwise.  The impurities present were the only thing really holding this one back in terms of quality — if that gets cleaned up in future batches, this is a very quality bubble hash.

As far as the experience goes, it definitely felt a bit heavy and would be recommended as more of an evening medication rather than something for the morning.  It was immediately body-oriented, making the head and appendages feel very heavy — the only mental component aside form some base relaxation was a bit of a dream-like/”time machine” state.  The heavy effect continued well past the initial period and left us feeling weighed down, a bit slow throughout most of the duration, and also fairly drained as it wore off.  It would be perfect for a late-night pre-bedtime type of smoke, but it’s definitely not a daytime thing for most people.

Overall, we felt that this was a very Indica-heavy spectrum of effects that would have a variety of benefits for those suffering from chronic pain, appetite issues, and insomnia.  Even for veteran hash smokers, the effect was too heavy for daytime use and had them too hazy to accomplish a whole lot.  The very heavy effect may be due in part to the mixed strains that were used in its manufacture — as with plant matter, mixing a variety of strains can often add up to a very narcotic experience.  Perhaps in the future, having a dedicated strain (or at least Sativa vs. Indica) would help patients who like bubble hash make a more informed choice about the effects — the heaviness present in this one could blindside some users.
