Snowcap (Sweet Leaf, Inc.)
Snowcap Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Sweet Leaf, Inc.
Grade: B+
Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid of unknown lineage (clone-only from California), there seems to be Haze in its lineage based on the smell and structure
Price: $50/8th members, $55 non-members
Appearance: (5/10) A sample composed of odd-shaped, blocky nugs that had an overall dark cast to them, this wasn’t our favorite sample to look at by a long shot. Though the structure was excellent in terms of density, it just didn’t have many visible trichomes to the naked eye and looked drab next to other samples. However, the appearance was nicer up-close, with an above-average trichome coverage that allayed our concerns that it had been “rolled” for trichomes. There were tiny, immature seeds visible in areas.
Aroma: (8/10) Chemical pine and lemon notes blend with a background sweetness — this strain’s aroma always seems like a cross of Jack Herer and something sweeter like a Durban… an interesting blend of sharp and sweet, but thoroughly citrus. This sample was surprisingly pungent after the ho-hum appearance.
Taste: (7/10) Lemon-lime citrus once again, but with some smoother spice notes (nutmeg and vanilla were both mentioned) as well as more pine element than was present in the smell. The smoke was average in harshness and expansion, only making us cough once or twice. There was some snapping when burnt and the final ash looked slightly dark, indicating that there may have been residual nutrients left in the plant at harvest.
Effects: Extremely strong to the eyes throughout the experience, this was Sativa all the way — the eyes felt like water balloons filling with pressure and also had a dry/burning quality to them were it became hard to keep them open at times. A rush of energy and warmth throughout the body and face combined with even more head/face pressure had us feeling a little overwhelmed at times, but able to focus and deal with most social situations, only struggling occasionally with spaciness. It’s worth noting that this was NOT a “stealth” med, as the eyes were very affected and were red/low. The driving energy kept up into the 2nd hour, finally receding and leaving us in a pleasantly relaxed state to finish out.
Duration: Medium, 2 – 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) The extremely strong ocular presence leads us to believe that this med would be effective for glaucoma, etc…. aside from that, it gave us energy and worked well to tame nausea and increase appetite.
Overall: While we were definitely less than impressed with the appearance of this strain, it sort of surprised our review team, both with its potency and with its smell/taste package. Definitely a “don’t judge the book by its cover” moment — the citrus zest smell and the pleasant but energetic Sativa experience would be enjoyed by most patients. It had moments of rushy energy, moments of spaciness, and moments of relaxation — a quality mixed bag of experiences.
