Romulan x Chemo Medical Marijuana Strain Review

FromThe Wellness Shop

Grade:  A-

Type:  Heavy Indica Hybrid, Romulan is a special California Indica and Chemo is a BC medical scene strain from the 1970′s

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  (7/10)  This sample was deceiving — to the naked eye it was crispy, had visible yellowed leaves, and had an iffy manicure.  But when it was examined up close or broken open, it revealed a ton of trichs on the verge of ambering.  The sample was dense and dry with good structure, but the manicure was a mix of overzealous and iffy, with some calyxes snipped off, but plenty of non-frosty guard leaves left on.

Aroma:  (7.5/10)  Probably in part due to the dry, crispy texture, this strain didn’t put off much of an aroma in the jar.  But once ground up or pinched, it released a slightly sweet pine-citrus scent that had notes of vegetation and pepper.  Again, deceiving…

Taste: (6/10)  Not an unpleasant taste or smoke, it just didn’t really speak to us flavor-wise…  We tasted hints of a slight sweet pine and other woody/earthy flavors, but none stuck out.  The smoke itself was extremely smooth and not expansive, so it would be good for those who don’t want to cough.  The ash was a very light gray, indicating that it had a proper flush.

Effects:  Felling rather heady at first, two KR team members reported that is was even a little on the energetic/anxious side at first, as they couldn’t really sit still and were mentally jumping from topic to topic.  Another reviewer felt a strongly Indica experience from the start, with a warm body, a pulsing head, and buzzing extremities.  This is not a ‘stealth’ med, as eyes were low, glassy, and a little red.  After the initial blast of potency and headiness, it shifted gears into a near-couchlock state that reminded one viewer of the early stages of an alcohol buzz, warm all over and relaxed.  It began pushing towards the sleep aid side by the end, eyes could barely stay open.

Duration:  Long, 2.5 – 3+ hours

Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  Reports of energy and a bit of anxiousness at the start faded into a very relaxing body and mental med that nearly knocked us out by the end.  It elevated our mood despite the “down” quality of the later parts, would be a good choice for late-night relaxation.  Some appetite stimulation qualities as well.

Overall: That old adage about books and their covers applies here, as this strain wouldn’t have gotten much of a look from us if we were just browsing a display case.  But up close it was actually quite pretty, smelled good, and produced a smooth, clean smoke.  It really shined in the effects area though, as it provided us with a great sense of care-free relaxation and tension relief after at first feeling very potent and perhaps a little Sativa in nature.  The effects probably depend on the time you medicate… if you’re already a bit tired, this will certainly function as a sleep aid… otherwise it will be mostly relaxing and mood elevating.
