Strain:  Harlequin

From:  Mind Body Spirit Wellness Center (aka MBS Wellness Center)

Pickup Date:  7/5/2011

Price:  $15/g (as listed, we paid $12 as a first-time patient)

Inspection Status:  Pass

This sample passed inspection despite being a little bit damp-feeling and spongy when we picked it up, showing no signs of bugs or mold.  While the texture was a little off-putting at first, the stems did actually bend-then-snap, showing that it was just on the verge of adequate dryness.  We weren’t wowed appearance-wise by this one at all, as it had only a light visual dusting of trichomes and a decent amount of tiny leaf covering, and no really bright colors to speak of.  At the macro level, it was tough to find a patch of perfectly-preserved trichomes, and many were damaged or otherwise malformed.  We really weren’t impressed visually with this sample despite its lack of major flaw — just seems like a lower-potency strain on its face, which would jive with the reports of it containing high levels of CBD and low THC.

Despite the slow start due to the lackluster appearance, we really enjoyed the aroma that this strain produced, as it was pretty unique and pungent, especially once the sample had dried out in the bag a little bit further.  Smelling of spicy wood, incense, pine, and also possessing a strange sour quality that really developed post-grind.  It’s a complex aroma that we can’t quite place with any other strain, but it seems “old-school” to our noses, possibly containing Southeast Asian lines.  The flavor was not quite as apparent, but retained much of the complexity as the aroma, tasting exotic but not pungent.  The final ash was a fluffy light gray/white, and the smoke was fairly smooth overall — good job with the flush.

Harlequin yes, i had the pleasure of smoking this ‘Bay Area Medical’ strain the other day. The smell reminded me of mango sprinkled with chili powder, and a little spice too. The taste didn’t manifest that well when burned, however the smell alone brought memories from the past. I’m barely 30.! About 11 years ago my friend had some nugs from mendo that smelled the same.. It was some exotic Thai weed. So good.. Harlequin at 8% THC doesn’t do much for me physically, but its the CBD content that is of value,(.8%) helped out my friend with inflammation, and anxiety. Recommended.

I have been smoking for five years now, been having panic attacks with, I’m guessing, all the recent changes in my life. With my anxiety, I get very negative, very bloated in the stomach, chills and trouble breathing properly. Can last for a while. Harlequin is so far the only strain I use to calm these symptoms. I tried getting into pills like zoloft, but the side effects are similar to anxiety! Agh! Smoke Harlequin if you suffer from random bouts of anxiety, and don’t smoke too much,
