Alaskan Thunderf*ck (Green Dream Health Services)
Alaskan Thunderf*ck Medical Marijuana Strain Review
From: Green Dream Health Services
Grade: B+
Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid, unconfirmed lineage from the Matanuska Valley of Alaska
Price: $40/8th
Appearance: (7.5/10) This smaple was a blend of greens, but the thing that stuck out was the ridiculous amount of thick, fire-red pistils that covered most of the exterior bud surface. The trichomes were almost hard to see amongst the forest, but when the sample was cracked open, it revealed an above-average amount of perfectly-timed and well-preserved trichomes. It was nicely dried and appeared to have been cared for well… nothing amazing here, but a very solid and unique-looking sample.
Aroma: (8/10) A rather pungent combination of pine, citrus, and soap/perfume (in order of prominence) was the aroma gleaned from this sample. One reviewer also caught a whiff of the familiar “garlic bud” smell after grinding… it had a nicely sharp smell to it overall.
Taste: (6.5/10) The taste on this one was a little bit hard to place, but carried with it a light sweetness and a creamy, flowery quality to it rather than a sharp one. It was moderately harsh but felt cool on the throat, expanding readily on larger hits. It burned to a perfectly bone-white “skeleton bowl”, indicating a superb flush.
Effects: After a slight 10-minute or so delay, the effects came on strongly and rang a lot of the right bells for the review staff early on. A rising warmth in the chest that moved up into the ears and forehead, then to the eyes, which filled with pressure but looked completely clear and open (solid “stealth” choice). An odd fluttering feeling in the chest accompanied by a rising pulse signaled the arrival of a strange energy that had us feeling mentally active but a little on the anxious/unsure what to do with ourselves side. The body felt relaxed, capable, and warm throughout the experience… this is a Sativa that still medicates physically. The energy level fell over the course of the duration, leaving us feeling a little drained by the end, but still very relaxed physically.
Duration: Medium-Long, about 2.5 hours
Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY) Very strong ocular presence, cerebral and mentally-engaged, energy at first, then relaxation to finish… also showed promise with mild-to-moderate pain relief and appetite stimulation.
Overall: A bit of a weirdo sample, the pistil coverage was almost off-putting but didn’t ultimately indicate any sort of grow issues, as the harvest was timed perfectly and there were plenty of trichomes and calyxes hidden underneath the red hair forest. The “bag appeal” wasn’t the best around, but it provided a very potent (almost too much so in the 15-30 minute area) experience with a bevy of medical qualities. If you enjoy a Sativa that has a bit of a crushing element to it and some power, this is a good choice… we’d recommend it for medium-to-advanced patients, as the initial potency can be a little much.

u kidding me? that’s one awesome lookin nug!
I would love to hear more about this strain from the breeder/provider……. I am VERY intrigued by the fact that this states it is a sativa. The real matanuska tundra is a Alaska landrace sativa. Sometime in the late ’60s ~ early ’70s it was crossed w/ an indica afghan (not all afghan landrace are indies), to produce what is now mostly known as Alaskan thunderfuck. It is very hard these days to weed through the misinformation going around. ATF is a killer strain either way………..
ive smoked the blue desiel it is the shhhiiiit …..
The real ATF I heard is like 32% THC. Why is this only 16%?
No offense, but whoever told you that Matanuska Thunderfuck was 32% THC doesn’t know what they’re talking about. No strain has ever tested that high to my knowledge, and if it did, I would view the test with a high degree of skepticism. Also, whoever thinks that a strain will reliably test at a certain level or has a “true THC percentage” doesn’t understand the amount of variables in any given grow that can effect the numbers, not to mention the testing standards, methods, etc. being all over the place in this industry.
