Strain: Northern Lights

From: Herbal Options

Pickup Date: 5/30/2011

Inspection Status: Pass

Passing inspection with flying colors and no signs of trouble, this Northern Lights had a slightly fluffy, almost Sativa-like structure despite Northern Lights being an Afghani by lineage.  The medium green coloration and pumpkin orange pistils gave it a classic look, and the fat-headed trichomes at the peak of ripeness that covered most surfaces hint at above-average potency.  No tiny seeds, a good trim, and good trichome preservation (80%+) showed great post-harvest care.

The crisp, skunky, sweet, fruity smell this sample had reminded us of some of the later strains that had NL #5 crossed into them such as Jack Herer and Colorado Cough, vacillating somewhere between citrus and floral.  The skunk elements were mostly present pre-grind, and it got very fresh-smelling and almost less-pungent after grinding.  The flavor was similar to the aroma on the first 2 hits or so, then got more hashy.  A smooth and enjoyable smoke never really caused coughing and it left behind a fluffy and pure white ash, showing a perfect flush.

This sample was clean in every way, and a quality representation of a classic strain, great job by the grow team.
