Ingrid Medical Marijuana Strain Review

FromWellspring Collective

Grade:  A

Type:  Strongly Indica-Dominant [Ingrid is a cross of Sagarmatha Seeds’ Stonehedge mother and a male Juan Moore's Dixie Crystal]

Price:  $50/8th

Appearance:  (9/10)  This sample was of slightly above-average density, and was a uniform medium green with huge tall trichomes and pale orange hairs.  It had some of the best trich coverage in terms of density and trich head size that we’ve seen; seems like a true Hashplant.  Nicely swelled and bubbly calyxes with a nice manicure give this one a high bud-to-leaf ratio as well.  The trichomes were mostly clear-cloudy, with maybe 10% ambers… great harvest timing.

Aroma:  (8/10)  Very strange, uncanny, and pungent odor that smells like dog poop.  Especially pre-grind, that is all you can think of — it’s a weird putrid sweetness with a sharp attack.  After it’s ground, it got even stronger with a component of herbiness but mostly an acrid musk and the poo smell.  Not pleasing exactly, but unique, pungent, and unmistakable.

Taste: (7/10)  Fortunately it didn’t taste like it smelled, and instead produced an ethereal and herby (maybe some sandalwood in there?) taste that almost reminded us of a Haze weirdly enough.  Another interesting trait is the wonderful almost menthol-sweet smell the actual smoke had, as it left the room smelling fragrant.  The taste wasn’t overt at any point, but the smoke was very pleasing and smooth with no coughing.

Effects:  Right off the bat, this strain produced a strong experience, with low eyes and a rising warmth that entered the head, face, and eyes (especially the eyes, which were almost burning).  It was nearly dizzying, making it a little bit difficult to walk around without getting a little unbalanced or having to take it a little slower than normal.  Once the initial attack subsided (about 30-45 minutes), a glorious and medicating body high was the main effect.  Superb relaxation throughout the entire body with a good deal of warmth and the urge to stretch and yawn makes this one perfect for relaxing after a day of physical activity.  It stayed at medicinal levels well into the 2nd hour and is one of the better body-centric strains we’ve had recently.

Duration:  Long, 2.5 – 3+ hours

Medicinal Traits: (We are NOT doctors – personal opinion ONLY)  General relaxation, pain relief, tension relief, sleep aid, possible ocular relief.

Overall:  With its um, distinctive and pungent aroma, it’s ridiculous trich coverage, and long-lasting, medicinal effects, Wellspring’s Ingrid is truly a winner of a strain.  This one would do the trick for almost any type of pain or discomfort, and its relaxing effects were both mentally and physically medicating.  It would probably get on top of most patients who aren’t heavy users, as even a 0.3g dose was enough to put a veteran into the “overwhelming” range at the onset.  Its enduring medicinal-level efficacy was the key component of its high score, as there was almost no drop-off in effects as the 2nd hour elapsed, which is unusual.

Stopped by yesterday and picked up some Ingrid as well as some special priced Haze and some mixed Kief. Ingrid did not disappoint and left my garage smelling like old woman perfume. The guys at Wellspring were great and not rushing or pushy. I really liked the dispensing area, particularly how the product is displayed in the case and lots of natural light so you can actually see what you’re buying. My only complaint, to be fair, is the entrance directly off of Broadway. While I don’t live in the area, discression is an unfortunate necessity. Other than that one small issue, I’d have to say that these guys are doing a great job and deserve a second visit.
    Cheers, K

Thanks for the thoughts RkyMtnHigh! I agree about the Ingrid, it had a very interesting post-smoke smell, one of those that you could pick out of a room easily.

I hate the smells like poop comment on anything because when we smell a smell that is outside our usual nasal palette, if you will, we tend to associate it with shit or piss. It’s like if you ever were at a National Park or a forest & it smelled like poop to you but really its a plant’s odor that you have never encountered. If your subjected to it for a long period of time it starts to smell less & less like poop. Funny how are brains do that. If you were to have a scale where Rosemary, Lavender, & Tea Tree, having a very aromatic smell & the pungent things like incense, autumn leaves, & the ocean, being on the other end of the scale. Ingrid is on pungent side but it is a great smell.

Ingrid, from WELLSPRING that is, is one of the BEST Indicas around. My HARSH stomach condition is totally sidelined after a joint of this bud. It’s smell is recognizable right away, and while Wellspring used to have an AWESOME Pre-’98 Bubba Kush as well as Ingrid, the absence of Bubba does not hurt with Ingrid around. Touted as a 100% Indica and absolutely COVERED in trichomes, it is everything I want in my Indicas. Not only is their Ingrid epic, 99% of the bud at Wellspring is grown, Harvested and Cured with meticulous detail, unlike most of the other Broadway/Denver dispensaries whose bud is normally wispy, leafy, harvested too early, or sold for too much. Not to mention the countless dispensaries who don’t flush their grow chems out of their buds. I can’t even count the amount of times I have bought bud at other spots, only to get a smoky mouthful of Florabloom. Wellspring is top-notch!
