Cherry Slyder is a special phenotype of Sagarmatha Seeds “Slyder”, which is thought to be an Afghani landrace crossed with Northern Lights. Given the heavy Indica pedigree, it was odd to see the branchy, almost columnar growth that this sample displayed. That said, it made it more interesting to the eye and also made for a good calyx-to-leaf ratio. Aside from passing inspection with flying colors, this sample had a large amount of milky white trichomes along with maybe 30% clear heads and 15% ambers. It had some tiny seeds, but didn’t show signs of hermie flowers, indicating that it may have been pollinated by something else in the room.
The smell of this sample doesn’t really scream “cherry”, but with the power of influence, the sweet and tart (yes, much like the candy of the same name) fruit flavor could definitely pass as cherry, in an artificial sour candy sense. There is a backing musky spice that hints more at its Afghani origins as well. The flavor is much the same, with a moderately sweet fruit flavor that is more complex and earthy than something like a Blueberry. It’s a bit of a thick smoke and hits the throat rather hard, but the final ash was a fluffy light gray with white flecks, showing a quality flush.
