Consumption Method: One review with “glass nail”, one with a “TI Curve” skillet in a mini-bong
This was a quality-looking earwax sample, with a healthy golden-blonde color that seemed to show that no plant material was left after the extraction. It showed some of the “coral reef” structure with small air holes in some pieces, and certainly looked like gobs of fused trichome heads under magnification. We thought the sample may have been slightly over-dried and/or over-extracted, as the texture was rather crumbly and slightly difficult to work with. However, that normally means that it is also a very clean extraction, which is more important than the consistency in the end.
The smell and taste both hinted at the parent strain, but neither was very strong, perhaps in part due to the heavy purging that the oil seemed to have gotten. Terpenes can often be lost due to an extensive purge, and that seems to be the case here, as we only detected a slight hint of lemon and not much else. Still though, it smoked well and wasn’t harsh on the throat, no matter the method used.
The effect was immediately present, giving us a bit of perspiration and a heavy presence in the center of the head. It was very clear-headed the entire time, never making us feel incapacitated or slow mentally — it was one that kept us happy and entertained mentally, even in mundane situations. It mimicked the feel of Durban flowers quite a bit, feeling slightly racy at first, but evening out into a mood elevating and energetic feeling with a component of body relaxation. We would recommend this as a daytime med for nearly any situation, as there were no real outward signs of being medicated, mental processes were clear, and there wasn’t a lazy comedown or after-affect.
Overall we liked this sample quite a bit but wished that the Durban taste and smell were as present as the Durban effects were. The possible over-purge is something that we struggle to complain about, simply because it’s better to be safe than sorry when dealing with removal of residual butane from extracts. The potency was rather high in all but never felt overwhelming, making this a good choice as an introduction to earwax hash for patients who medicate with daytime Sativas.
